Assoc. Prof. Sudhir Wahi
MBBS, MD, FRACP, FCSANZ

Director of Echocardiography and Senior Staff Cardiologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Associate Professor of Medicine with the University of Queensland in Brisbane and Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Tasmania in Hobart, commences private practice as a founding partner at Brisbane Heart in September 2014. He completed his advanced fellowship in cardiac imaging at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation USA. He is Clinical Lead and Chair of the Statewide Echocardiography Working Group, Co-Chair of the State Cardiology Clinical Network and Secretary of the Queensland Branch of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. He has been on the teaching faculty for many national and international meetings and symposia. He has a keen interest in pulmonary hypertension and echocardiography research. He has been supervising advanced trainees, cardiac scientists and clinical fellows in all forms of echocardiography for 15 years. Besides expertise in general cardiovascular diseases, he has a special clinical interest in valvular heart disease, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. He is currently also overseeing the Pulmonary Hypertension program at the PAH.

Gerald (Gerry) Kaye MBChB
MD FRCP(London) FRACP

Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Queensland and Interventional Electrophysiologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital since 2005, commences private practice as a founding partner at Brisbane Heart in September 2014. He graduated from Manchester University in 1978 and undertook specialist cardiology and electrophysiology training at St Bartholomew’s and St George’s Hospitals London and Leeds University Teaching Hospital before being appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals where he established a new cardiology unit and developed the complex electrophysiology and device implantation service. He completed his doctoral thesis at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital (1984-1986). He has presented at both national and international research meetings and continues to undertake clinical research and publish in peer-reviewed journals. He practises in general cardiology, management of coronary disease including coronary angiography and has a particular interest in pacemakers and defibrillators, arrhythmias, electrophysiology and device therapy for heart failure.

Dr Dariusz Korczyk
MDipl IntMedSpec FRACP FCSANZ MHFA DDU

As a founding partner brings to Brisbane Heart a wealth of experience in managing patients with heart disease gained during his intensive training in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He graduated from The Silesian School of Medicine (Poland) and was awarded a title of Internal Medicine Specialist following training and board examinations. He continued training after arrival in Australia and New Zealand and became a Consultant Cardiologist with a particular interest in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation. Dariusz worked at the Green Lane Heart Centre in Auckland and The Prince Charles Hospital before establishing the Heart Failure Unit at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. His areas of expertise include Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathies and Pulmonary Hypertension. He also manages patients with common coexisting problems including Coronary Artery Disease, Hypertension, Lipids Disorders and Arrhythmia. Dariusz is a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand and European Heart Failure Association, member of the first Australian Amyloidosis Centre and Pulmonary Hypertension Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital. He performs a variety of cardiac procedures including left and right heart catheterization, cardiac biopsy and echocardiography. He remains actively involved in research (author of publications and book) and in teaching as Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Dariusz is married to Natalia for the last 25 years and has 3 children.
